Time flies. By now it’s been nearly ten years that we have committed ourselves to the most beautiful and oldest team sport in the world – polo. Ten years in which we reported with much passion, enthusiasm and heart’s blood on the big and small stories, on famous and new locations and personalities, on the faces on and next to the playing field. Ten years in which we did not only accompany the rapid progress of polo, but also were part of embossing it. Since last year we also give a voice to international polo with Anglophone issues – and for the first time were present with our own stand at the Palermo Open in Buenos Aires.

The final result could not have been more definite: In the competition for the Silver Pinkster Polo Trophy the team Mendoza with Teun Swinkels (-1), Phillip de Groot (0), Hector Monserrat (+3) and Gonzalo Bernal (+3) defeated the generic team HV Polo/QM with Sabine van der Kloot Meijburg (0), Maarten Hulsman (0), Guillermo Macloughlin (+3) and Nick Groos (+3) with 8-2.

In the finals of the Coupe Patrick Guérrand-Hermes (PGH) at the Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly met the two teams Sainte Mesme with Clemente Zavaleta (+6), Robert Strom (+3), Corentin Le Pape (+2) plus Armand Lapotre (+1) and Blackstorm/Why Not with Jean-Marc Tyberg (0), Tito Ruíz Guiñazú (+7), Julio Zavaleta (+5) and Hana Grill (0). In the first high goal competition of the season in France Saint Mesme defeated the generic team in the deciding match with 7-5,5.

Team König Pilsener with Christian Grimme (0) and British polo player Tim Ward (+3) wins the sixth Julius Bär Beach Polo World Cup Sylt. The pulsating final match between the two finalists König Pilsener and Lanson ended with 11-11 and went into extra time. Tim Ward scored and team König Pilsener won by Golden Goal with 12-11.

Piaget (Melissa Ganzi, Moritz Gädeke, Brandon Phillips and Juan Bollini) took the early lead and held a 4-3 halftime edge before Audi (Grant Ganzi, Marc Ganzi, Lucas Lalor and Mike Azzaro) staged a second half rally that gave them the game in a narrow 8-7 win in the finals of the 2013 USPA Eastern Challenge at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington Sunday morning.

This weekend an estimated 8,000 spectators came to watch the Veuve Clicquot Polo on the Beach at Watergate Bay, Cornwall. Highlight of the two-day polo event was the High Goal Polo Match on Sunday. The teams Joules and First Great Western competed for the Watergate Bay Trophy. In the end Joules won by a single goal, beating the First Great Western team 13-12.
